2017 Maverick Champions

The Missoula Mavericks are the 2017 Montana-Alberta American Legion Baseball Champions, beating the #1 seeded Bozeman Bucks 4-3 on Sunday. The Mavericks would earn their championship birth on Friday night beating the Helena Senators 6-2, and earning the only 3-0 record in the field.
In addition to winning the championship, three players would earn tournament honors. Nick Yovetich would earn the 2017 Tournament MVP with a stunning performance on the mound, heroic effort in the field, and an epic performance at the plate. Brendan Buchanan received the tournament hitting award, and Ryan McHugh would pick up academic honors and received a $1,000 scholarship the Montana- Alberta Legion, which he will use in Bozeman at Montana State.
Both the Mavericks and the Bucks earned a trip to the North West Regional Tournament in Missoula this week.
