• In 1898 Phillies’ pitcher Bill Duggleby hits a grand slam on his first at bat

Golf

• In 1991 at the PGA Seniors’ Championship, Jack Nicklaus wins his 4th of 8 Champions Tour majors by 6 strokes from Bruce Crampton of Australia

Miscellaneous

• In 1902 the 6th Boston Marathon is won by Sam Mellor in 2:43:12

NBA

• In 1951 in the NBA Championship: Rochester Royals beat New York Knicks 79-75 to take series 4 games to 3. It’s the first Finals appearance for both teams

NFL

• In 1944 the Chicago Cardinals & Pittsburgh Steelers merge (dissolves on Dec 3)

NHL

• In 1951 in the Stanley Cup Final, Toronto Maple Leafs beat Montreal Canadiens 3-2 for a 4-1 series victory
