Lincoln Hits Century Mark In Rams Win Over Anaconda

For the final regular season basketball game of the 2018-2019 season for the Loyola Rams they would play host to the Anaconda Copperheads in a Class B powerhouse match up that gave the Rams a 63-45 win to finish the regular season.

Loyola would win the tip off but it was the Copperheads who took off to start the game as Anaconda knocked down a pair of three pointers to take the lead. It was not until the 4:45 mark before the Rams were on the scoreboard as Cooper Waters knocked down a par of free throws, and then less then a minute later Loyola took the lead for the first time. For the remainder of the first quarter and part of the second the lead would bounce back and forth like a yo-yo on a string with Loyola getting the upper hand going into the half time break.

Holding to a 10 point lead to start the third quarter Loyola slowed the game down and began to work the perimeter looking for high percentage shots. Then mid way through the third frame Loyola senior Jack Lincoln take the ball hard to the hoop, knocking down the shot and earning a trip the free throw line, as Lincoln slipped the ball through the cylinder on the free throw he would surpass the 1,000 career point mark, putting himself in Montana high school basketball history.

Anaconda would outscore Loyola for the first time in the third quarter to knock a point off the Rams lead, and as the two teams worked through the final frame Anaconda would come close to catching Loyola, but the Rams flexed their muscle and cruised to an 18 point win.
