After both Loyola basketball teams placed second at the Class B Western Divisional tournament on Saturday night the two teams will play in challenge games on Tuesday night to keep their seasons alive.
Lady Wardens @ Breakers
The Breakers would open the Class B Western Divisional tournament with a dominating win over Thompson Falls to earn a trip to the semi-final game on Friday night. Meeting a familiar foe in Anaconda the Breakers would cruse to their second victory of the tournament, making the championship game. Loyola would now face their conference rival and the top team in all of Class B girls basketball in Florence and the Lady Falcons would win the Class B Divisional to head to the state tournament as the number one seed out of the west.
Going into the fourth quarter of their opening game against Bigfork the Lady Wardens would fall to the Valkyries getting sent to the consolation side of the bracket. From there Deer Lodge went on a tear by knocking off Mission on Friday, and then riffled off a convincing win over Anaconda Saturday morning to make it to the consolation championship. The Lady Wardens would find themselves in front of the team that had put them on the consolation side of the bracket and in the rematch Deer Lodge would revenge their loss to take the third place spot over Bigfork.
The challenge game will tip off from the Ronan Event Center at 6:00 pm on Tuesday night.
Mission @ Rams
Loyola went in to the the Class B Boys Western Divisional Tournament as the number one seed out of District 6B which earned them a game against the Florence Falcons and the Rams would roll past the Falcons to head into the semi-final game on Friday night. The Rams would take on Deer Lodge for their second game and after the Wardens put up a good fight to start, Loyola went on to win. Saturday night’s boys championship game found the Rams playing a game against a team they had split the season with in Bigfork and after a knock out fight the Vikings would come out victorious to claim the number one spot out of the Western Division in Class B.
Mission started their tournament with a convincing win over Eureka on Thursday night to head to the semi-finals. Facing the defending state champions in the semi-final game the Bulldogs would fall to Bigfork to play in the consolation semi-final. In a win or go home game Mission would take on Florence Saturday morning and Mission would shot their way past the Falcons to head in to the consolation championship game. After a close first half Mission would send the Deer Lodge home as the fourth place team from the Class B Western Division.
The boys challenge game is scheduled to tip off at 7:30 pm Tuesday night from the Ronan Event Center.
