The 0-1 Hellgate Knights would host the 0-1 Butte Bulldogs Thursday night at the Missoula County Public High School Stadium in battle of win less teams in Class AA football, with the Bulldogs winning 64-12.
The Knights would come into the game coming off a loss to the run heavy offense of the Bozeman Hawks 40-7 last Thursday night in the return of the Hellgate Varsity program. The Butte Bulldogs would begin their season with a loss to the Flathead Braves 27-19 one week ago.
Sophomore quarterback Rollie Worster would get the call for the start for the Knights after leaving last weeks game with a wrist injury, and being listed as questionable all week. Worster would lead the Knights on a couple healthy drives in the first quarter before being sidelined with an ankle injury after a twisting tackle on a run with a little over three minutes left in the first quarter. When the whistle blew at the end of the first quarter the Bulldogs would hold a 30-0 lead over Hellgate.
After a 51-0 deficit at the half time break, Hellgate would get on the board with a Kade Lunday touchdown catch from Gage Haran late in the third quarter to make it 64-6. The Knights would add another score in the fourth to making it a final score of 64-12. Hellgate will play the Bengals in Helena next week.
