Class B Quarter Final Preview

The Loyola Ram Class B football team will make the long trek across Montana to play the Colstrip Colts in the quarter final game of the 2017 Class B postseason this Saturday.

Loyola started the season with a tough loss to Huntley Project, but gained momentum as the season rolled on. The Rams did pick up a big win over Shelby the following week and fell to Fairfield in week for their second conference game of the season, but bounced back and raced to the postseason. Loyola earned a trip to the playoffs with a big win over their rival Florence Falcons and met Malta in the first round coming a way with a 48-6 win. Field general Scott Twite found his groove and turned the Rams into a triple threat run team with Ryan Tirrell and Cal Gibson running over opposing defenses. In addition to controlling the game on the ground the Rams have a stable full of receivers with senior David Koppand leading the way and Cooper Waters capping off the book end receivers.

Colstrip has dominated the eastern side of Montana  in Class B football finishing 2017 with a 6-1 season, their only loss coming to Shepherd in a close 14-6 battle. The Colts most notable win came against Huntley Project 15-14, and they would shut out Wolf point 40-0. Colstrip landed the number one seed in the eastern division and drew Broadwater in the first round and came away with a 27-13 win. The Colts are led by their senior Joel Mcrae and their tailback Ty Bradley.

Saturday’s Class B Playoff game will come down to whether or not Colstrip can slow down the multiple threats that Loyola posses, while the Rams are going to need to buckle down on the defensive side of the ball and the front seven are going to need to stop the bruising run game of the Colts.

Kick off from Colstrip is at 1:00 pm on Saturday.
