Valley Christian high school was the scene for more than an ugly sweater party on the Friday night before Christmas as the Hot Springs Savage Heat took to the hardwood against the Eagles and the two schools finished with a doubleheader split.
It was ladies first to scrape it out on the court with the Lady Savage Heat getting the victory 52-24 over the host team. Hot Springs cranked up the heat right out the gate as they would hold Valley Christian to a pair of free throws and two points in the paint in the opening quarter. The young Valley Christian girls squad fought valiantly and found some ground in the fourth quarter when they would rich the double digit mark with 13 points on the quarter, two points more then the Lady Eagles had scored in the combined first three quarters.
Once the ladies finished up with their game the boys took the to the hardwood for their battle that resulted in the boys from Valley Christian revenging the girls loss with a 40-31 win. Things started off slow for both teams, but it was the Eagles who found their groove and they ran out to an eight point lead at the half time break. Hot Springs came out in the third quarter with the proper adjustments to put points on the board first, but Coach DeGroot made changes on the fly and soon Valley Christian took back control of the game to ride out the win.
