The Loyola Breakers took a bus trip down the Bitterroot Tuesday to play the Florence Falcons in a pair of conference games and the defending state champion Falcons beat the Breakers in both games.

Brianna Hoffman set up in the pitchers circle for Florence and she stood tall through the first three innings until Loyola earned their only two runs of the game. Kayla Hickethier was the most productive player at the plate for Loyola going 2-2, while Natalie Goodman went 2-3 with a run. Loyola’s Molly McHugh earned the only two RBI’s for Loyola when she hit a double up the gap in right field scoring Goodman and Hellie Badaruddin. Florence went on a scoring spree in the fifth and sixth innings and where lead at the plate by Natalie Dulac who had a grand slam going 2-2 with two runs and four RBI’s in the Falcon win.

In the second game the Falcons picked up where they left off in the first game, running through their batting order twice in the first half frame. For the second game in a row the Falcons had a grand slam, this time coming off the bat of Emily Kinnaman at her first trip to the plate in the first inning. Going in to the to the bottom of the second Florence head coach Rob Ralls rotated in sub players in to give them some experience and the Breakers took the cue and lit up their bats. Loyola loaded up the runs and when the dust had settled at the bottom of the second inning the Breakers had made it interesting. Fearing a Loyola comeback Ralls put his starters back in in the top of the of the third inning and shut down any kind of Breaker rally, sweeping Loyola on Florence’s senior night.

Loyola will regroup and head to Thompson Falls on Thursday for a doubleheader.
