Week five in Missoula high school football would have a special Thursday night game, a pair of homecoming wins, and final second touchdown for a big win.
The Sentinel Spartans would have a special Thursday night game under the lights with the Butte Bulldogs at Missoula County Stadium. Sentinel took an early lead in the first quarter, but Butte would bounce back and tie it up in early in the second quarter at 14 a piece. The Spartans would find their groove and have a 28-17 lead at the half. Sentinel kept their foot on the gas pedal and beat the Bulldogs 41-30.
It would be a special crowd Friday night for the Loyola Rams as they would host the Thompson Falls Blue Hawks for the Loyola Homecoming. It was evident early in the game that the Rams would dominate the Blue Hawks when Loyola scored in two plays on their opening drive, and then intercepted the ball on the Blue Hawks opening play. The Rams would score on all six of their drives in the first half, and added a score with a pick six in the first half of their 53-6 win over Thompson Falls.
Homecoming night would come to the Big Sky Eagles as they would host the Great Falls Bison on a crisp night. The Eagles swooped out to an early lead with a touchdown, and then added a second with 5:25 left in the second quarter. The Bison put a score up to make it 14-7 Eagles at the half. The second half of the game consisted of a back and forth battle that was determined by the team who had the ball last as the Eagles would pull off another last second score to win 26-23.
The Hellgate Knights would be the only team of the four that would be on the road Friday night as they played in Great Falls against the CMR Rustlers. CMR held the lead throughout the game and where up 27-0 at the half. Hellgate did add a pair of scores in the second half, but it would not be enough to catch the Rustlers and CMR would get the 41-12 win.
