Week six in Missoula high school football would be a second week in a row of homecoming celebrations and all four teams finding their way into the loss column.
The Big Sky Eagles would jump on the bus and head east to play the top ranked team in Class AA football in the Senior Broncs. Going into the game the two teams would be in the top two spots in the ranking with the Broncs holding a 5-0 record and the Eagles with a 4-1 record. The game looked close as Big Sky would be down 28-14 at the half, but Senior would show why they are the top team in Class AA football and sent the Eagles home from Billings with a 49-14 loss.
Eureka Montana would be the sight of a Class B State Championship rematch with the Loyola Rams and the Eureka Lions. The Lions would steal the state title from the Rams in the closing seconds of the game leaving a bitter taste with Loyola. The Rams would head north on Friday afternoon with the intent on evening the score with a win and things seemed at hand at the half when Eureka led 24-20. The Lions would flex their muscle in the second half to hold Loyola to eight points while scoring 27 points of their own to bet the Rams 51-28.
There would be a pair of homecoming games in Missoula Friday night and Missoula County Stadium would be the home of the Glacier Wolfpack and the Sentinel Spartans. The Wolfpack would come into Missoula 0-5 for the first time in the Grady Bennett era and Glacier looked to spoil the Sentinel homecoming celebration. Glacier came out and stomped down the field on the legs of their running back Drew Turner to go up 21-10 at the half. The second half would be owned by the Wolfpack as they would pick off Rylan Ortt in back to back possessions by the Spartans, and Turner ripped off two 61 yard runs for touchdowns to lead the Wolfpack to their first win of the year, 48-17 over Sentinel.
The Hellgate Knights would have their homecoming Friday night at Washington-Grizzly Stadium under the lights against the Skyview Falcons. Both teams entered the game without a win on the season despite being able muster a good defense. Hellgate would get on the board in the first half despite being down 21-7 at the break. The Knights and the Falcons would play hard nosed defense in the second half, but Skyview would add a score and come away with a 27-7 win.
