In a cross class game the Class B Loyola Sacred Heart Breakers played host to the Class A Hamilton Broncs with the Broncs leaving Missoula with a 6-0 shut out win over the Breakers.
Hamilton warmed up their bats early as the Broncs would earn the first run of the game with two outs on the board off an error that brought Mikaylin Brickley home from third. After walking a batter Loyola would finish out the inning with only one run allowed while leaving a runner on base. In the bottom of the first Loyola would put themselves in position to score with two outs, but a miss cue on a wild pitch ended the inning with out an earned run.
Loyola started out the top of the second with a quick out, but Breaker pitcher would hit the next two batters to put runners on base. Things would get out of hand from their for Loyola as the Broncs would earn four runs before the end of the half inning, two of came off errors by the Breakers.
From there it was all defense from both teams as Hamilton and Loyola’s infield would tighten up their game to leave a goose egg on the board for the next four innings. Loyola would be able to load the bases, and put runners in scoring position throughout the game, but the Broncs defense would hold off any type of attack and Hamilton would ride away with a shut out over Loyola.
The Breakers will take the rest of the week to prepare the Frenchtown Tournament this Friday and Saturday.
