The Big Sky Eagle Lacrosse team opened their season on Sunday in Bozeman against the Hawks at the Montana State Football Stadium and Bozeman dominated the Eagles in a 25-2 win.
Bozeman came out on the attack, but Big Sky held their own until seven minutes left in the first quarter when the Hawks dropped the ball into the back of the net. No sooner had the ball been cleared out of the net Bozeman won the face off and ran the ball ball down and scored a second goal. From there it was an on slot of scores for the Hawks as they dominated the first half, going to the break with a 14-1 lead.
The second half was more press and shot from the Hawks as they held off a hand full of attacks by Big Sky in the third quarter while scoring break away points on the offensive end. Bozeman kept their foot on the gas pedal and ran the score up on Big Sky to earn the win in a dominating fashion.
Both of Big Sky’s goals came off the stick of senior shooter Carson Smith. Big Sky will observe the Missoula County Public Schools spring break over the next week before jumping back on the pitch in two weeks.
