Hood Gets Pitching Honors

The Montana Women’s softball program picked up Big Sky Conference honors today. Lady Griz freshman Michaela Hood would earn the Big Sky Conference Pitcher of the Week for her efforts last week.

In three starts last week Hood would go 3-0 against Boise State and North Dakota. In her win over the Broncs Hood would shut down one of the nations top offenses, only allowing Boise State four hits in her 3-1 win. Hood would pitch two out of the three game series against North Dakota over the weekend and would pick up a pair of wins against the Fighting Hawks.

In the freshman’s 21 innings pitched over the three games Hood would have 26 strikeouts, including a team record 12 in Sunday’s game against the North Dakota. Sunday’s game would put Hood in the program history books with her 12 strikeout game, replacing Kenzie Cole’s 2015 11 strikeout game. Last week’s three game win streak would bump her her season record to 8-2, the second highest win total in the Big Sky Conference.

Hood will likely get double duty pitching honors this weekend as the Lady Griz will host Southern Utah in a three game series. Friday will kick off the series with a doubleheader that starts at 2:30 pm at Grizzly Softball Field.
