The Big Sky Lady Eagles would face a tough Capital Lady Bruins team to open their divisional tournament Thursday with the Lady Bruins taking down Big Sky 59-18.
Domination by Capital started early as the Lady Bruins went on a run to open the game, holding Big Sky off the scoreboard until three minutes in to the game. It was a tough first half for the Lady Eagles due to Capital holding Big Sky to just three points in the first quarter, and six in the second to lead Big Sky 29-9 when the half time break came around.
Despite a heavy lead by the Lady Bruins to start the third quarter, Big Sky was winning the rebound battle by out rebounding Capital on the defensive end of the court. The Lady Eagles struggled to shot from the field throughout the game, only shooting 16% in the first half, and dropping to 14% to finish the game. It was a tenacious defense that held the Lady Eagles at bay as Big Sky turned the ball over 18 times compared to Capitals 10.
Big Sly falls to the loser out side of the bracket and will face the Flathead Bravettes at 11:00 am on Friday morning in order to stay alive at the divisional tournament.
