Lincoln Doubles Down Over Valley Christian

For the first home game of 2019 for the Valley Christian boys and girls basketball programs Valley Christian would host the Lincoln Lynx and the Lynx would take both games from the Eagles.

Lady Lynx vs Lady Eagles
It was ladies first on the court and from the start it was all about the Lady Lynx as they took off out scoring the Lady Eagles 14-8 in the first quarter. Lincoln commanded the paint with the help of their 6’0″ junior Alexis Cannon who not only out rebounded Valley Christian, but out scored the Lady Eagles, putting up eight of the Lady Lynx opening quarter points. Valley Christian found a rhythm in second quarter when they out scored Lincoln 14-12 with the help of Kaytlin Kelly who went 3-3 from the thee point line.

With a four point lead at the half time break Lincoln instituted their adjustments which held Valley Christian to a single free throw in the third quarter while scoring 14 of their own points, seven of which came at the hands of Maggie Jorgensen. Using team effort the Lady Eagles tried to battle back into the game in the final frame, but the third quarter deficit was to much to overcome and the Lady Lynx coasted to a 52-31 win.

Lynx vs Eagles
In the second game of the night the Eagles looked to even the score by coming away with a win over the Lynx, but Lincoln had a game plan of their own. Valley Christian came out cold in the opening frame with the senior Casey Reimer and junior Ty Messner being the only Eagles to knock down a shot, finishing the quarter down 12-4 to Lincoln.

From there it was an even game between the two squads as Valley Christian would match Lincoln’s 10 points in the second, and out scored Lincoln by a point in the third quarter. The fourth quarter was like the 4th of July as the two teams blew up the bucket, Valley Christian pulling the game even at one point, but the slow start was to much to overcome and Lincoln snuck away with a 54-47 win over Valley Christian.
