Many young athletes dream of playing the sports they love at the collegiate level and today Loyola senior Katie Fagg took a step closer to full filling her dream as she signed a Letter of Intent to play golf at Carroll College in Helena starting this fall.
Katie has had a love for golf ever since a young age driven by the need to be with her father and brother who would not allow her to go because it was to far for her to walk. Katie talks about falling for the sport of golf, “When I was eight I got my first golf club and my dad took me down to the chipping green and I just fell in love.”
As the second female golfer from Loyola to move on to the collegiate level in the past two years, Katie signing means a great deal for girls prep golf in Montana. Katie’s swing coach Ed Bezanson has been working with Loyola golfers for the past 13 years, but has spent the last three years working specifically with Katie. Bezanson explains what Katie’s accomplishment does for Montana girls golf. “Especially on the ladies side of the game it’s speaks highly for high school golf, it shows high school golfers what too they can achieve”
The Loyola senior has the opportunity to concentrate her academics and the upcoming season now that she has determined what she will be doing post high school. Class B and Class C golf will begin this spring and Katie will be able to show her talents off to her local fans as The Canyon River Golf Course will host the girls MHSA State Tournament.
