For the third day in a row the Missoula Mavericks would take the field in Rapid City South Dakota for the 43rd Annual Camping World Classic and it would be the second game in a row that the late innings would doom Missoula.
The Mavericks sent the young gun to the mound in Thomas Martin to throw against the Rocky Mountain Lobos and Martin stood tall through the four and third innings he stood on the bump, only allowing one run off seven hits and walked one batter in the 57 pitches he threw. On the Lobos side of the field, Rocky Mountain would use six pitchers to get by Missoula, the final three would be on the mound for a total of three and a third innings.
From the plate the Mavericks would average .286 as a team and were led by their veteran James Martin who went 2-3 with a run and a pair of RBI’s to go with his single put out and five assists on the defensive side of the field. First baseman Dane Fraser chipped in from the dish to go 2-4 with two runs, and the youngest Mav on the AA squad, Kaden “Hydro” Heidrick, pitched in going 1-4 with a pair of RBI’s, one of which was a sac fly that earned the first run of the game off the legs of James Martin.
The Mavs will lace up their cleats Monday for a game against Merced, CA with first pitch coming at 3:00 pm.
