On what is expected to be a beautiful day in Billings Saturday, many of Montana’s high school football players will play their last game of their prep football career. For the 74th Annual Montana East/West Shrine game the Missoula County high schools will represent more then just players on the field. For the second time, and first as the head coach, 2020 AA State Champion coach Dane Oliver will lead the West, also being assisted by one of his own coaches, Pete Joseph. Oliver coached the Sentinel Spartans to their first state title in 48 years in his ninth season at the helm of the Spartans. In 2020 Oliver and the Spartans high octane offence out scored their opponents to an astonishing 452-69.
In addition to Coach Oliver, Missoula County will have 18 players from four of the six high schools with in Missoula County, nine on the roster and nine as alternates. Sentinel will have the beef of the representation with six on the roster, Frenchtown has two, and Big Sky with one. Five of the Sentinel players on the roster are on the defensive side of the ball, with Spartan quarterback Dayton Bay standing out on the offensive side.
Kick off is at 7:00 pm on Saturday from Daylis Stadium and can be seen on the NFHS Network. Good luck to all the young men that will finish their high school football career on Saturday!
