With partly cloudy skies the Missoula Mavericks hit the road Wednesday to play the Helena Senators in Helena and with in a few innings mother nature would force the two teams to postpone the game.

The two teams came out putting a run up on the board in the opening frame, but it was the Senators that found the sweet spot in the opposing team defense. Helena went on a hitting spree in second and third innings, even though the Senators only earned a single run in the second they were able to pop the ball over third baseman Tradd Richardson and into center over second base.

Down three runs and a dark cloud moving in from the south the Mavericks mustard up some offense and pulled themselves to within one by the fourth inning break. With one run separating the two teams Mavericks Manager Brent Hathaway went to his bullpen and called up Brendon Hill to take over for Dane Fraser on the mound to start the bottom of the fourth. Just as Hill mounted the bump the rains began and by the time he had thrown his second warm up pitch the umpire gave the signal and the game was postponed. The monsoon type weather rolled into the Helena Valley and drowned the field within minutes forcing the teams to postpone the game until a future date.

The Mavericks will make the Billings tour this weekend taking on the Billings Scarlets, Royals, and Post 22 out of South Dakota. Watch all four games right here on the Missoula Prep Sports Network.
