Prep Football Game Preview 10/31

Things get serious for this weeks prep football game preview as it is a look at the second round of the Class B 2018 playoffs when the Huntley Project Red Devils make a trip west to take on the Loyola Rams.

Huntley Project is coming off a win over a Montana Class B power house Malta who gave Huntley Project a run for their money before the Red Devils came away with a 22-14 victory. The Red Devils key their offense on the legs of of their stout running game that put up 270 yards on 60 attempts and three touchdowns last week against Malta. Huntley Project’s passing game is tricky with passing routes underneath the coverage in the forum of screens. Defensively the Red Devils are seasoned in the middle of the field with fast linebackers and disciplined lineman up front who work to reestablish the line of scrimmage.

The Rams are riding a seven game win streak, six to finish out the regular season, and last weeks domination of Three Forks in the first round of the 2018 Class B postseason. In the first round game last Saturday Loyola found success offensively on the ground as well as through the air, while utilizing what the Wolves gave them in the special teams game. For the third week in a row the Ram defense stepped up to keep their opponent out of the end zone until late in the game, causing a total of four turnovers, three of which were picks.

The Skinny

Saturday’s 2018 MHSA Class B second round game will be a rematch for the Red Devils and the Rams as they battled in Bozeman at Bobcat Stadium in their annual season opener. For a Ram win Loyola will have to take a look at the tape from the first game this season to figure a way to bottle up Huntley Project’s Asher Croy who bruised the Ram defense for a 153 yards on 31 carries and four touchdowns in the season opener.

On the Huntley Project side of Rollin Field the Red Devils will have to have faith in their running game to try and crack the Loyola front seven, but have a tough task on the defensive side of the ball to try to corral the Rams hard hitting running back, and a stable full of wide receivers to keep at bay.
