Our weekly prep spotlight game this week is a high school basketball doubleheader between two schools that play each other hard at every sport, yet treat each other as family out side the lines. On Tuesday night the Bigfork Vikings and Vals will make a trip south to play their Class B rival Loyola Rams and Breakers in a pair of games that will answer questions on who is the top in the western side of the state in Class B boys and girls basketball.
It’s ladies first on the hardwood at the Ram Athletic Center in a game that cold swing the pendulum into the favor of the Breakers. Over the past two season’s the Vals have been a dominate force on the basketball court, terrorizing teams all over Class B girls basketball, but thier leaders graduated in the spring. For the Loyola Breakers the early season has been an opportunity to strengthen their confidence as they have battled back from being down, and held off some of the best to get the win.
In the second game the boys clash in a game that will show the power of the Bigfork Vikings that has picked up on their winning dominance from last season, versus the heart of the Loyola Rams who have a hardy group of spirited players. Bigfork returns a starting lineup that is proven in battle with a bench that is as deep as the powder on Big Mountain. Loyola is a squad that has shown they are a force in Class B basketball, and that they can compete with the MHSA Class above them.
Tip off for the girls game is at 5:30 pm from the RAC, and the boys will get under way 20 minutes after the ladies finish their battle.
