Looking to join the Bigfork Vikings at the Class B boys basketball state tournament the Loyola Rams would take on the Mission Bulldogs in a divisional challenge game that found the Rams coming out victorious over the Bulldogs 84-41.
It was obvious from the jump that Ram senior Jack Lincoln was going to urge his team to a win as Lincoln would score the Rams first seven points, finishing with 27 points to lead all scorers. Facing a sharp shooting Bulldogs team Loyola went to work on the perimeter to limit Mission’s three point shots while scoping up the rebound on the defensive board to curb any second chance points by the Bulldogs.
After a second quarter run that led the Rams to out shot Mission 26-9 the Rams held a 44-20 lead over Mission to start the second half. Mission’s guard Jacob Hugs lifted the team on to his shoulders in the second half by leading the team from the field, but the Loyola shooters would match Hugs’ attempts to keep the Rams ahead of the Bulldogs to cruse to the win.
The Rams head to the state tournament as the second place team out of the west and will tip off Wednesday night.
