The Hellgate Knight volleyball team played host to the Sentinel Spartans Thursday night for the second crosstown battle of the week and Sentinel would sweep the host Knights in three straight sets.
The gym filled with fans from both sides of the net and the student sections were loud and rowdy for the crosstown rival game. Sentinel came out hot and took the first set 25-13. In the second set the Spartans built off the momentum of the first set and with a run of great serves early in the match to give Sentinel a 25-14 win.
With the match well in hand the Spartans looked to close out the night with consistent play, but the Knights had other things in mind and held on to play close through the early portion of the set, but the Sentinel’s expertise would shine through and the Spartans would take the final set 25-16.
With just a handful of weeks left in the 2017 volleyball season the Sentinel Spartans have a strong hold on Class AA volleyball, and the Hellgate Knights are looking to improve on their performance and build a stronger team.
