Sunday Recap 4-7-19

After the first few weeks of spring sports events having to be either rescheduled or canceled due to unsafe field conditions everybody got into action in the first week of April.

Softball
MCPS softball officially started their season Friday with the annual Billings AA schools versus the Missoula AA schools. Senior Skyview, and West dominated Big Sky, Hellgate, and Sentinel in the two day jamboree with Sentinel picking up a win on Friday. Loyola had their first games of the season on Saturday with a trip to Eureka and after a pair of close games the Breakers came home two time winners.

Track & Field
Sentinel started the week with a trip to Kalispell on Tuesday where they stretched their competitive legs and showed Western Montana they are team to contend with. Big Sky tipped off their track and field season Thursday as the Eagles would host the Butte schools in an event that was scheduled to be in Butte on Tuesday and Big Sky was able to show off their stellar athletes. Loyola and Valley Christian jumped out to a good start to their season as they would participate in the Frenchtown Invitational on Saturday with a stand out appearance.

Tennis
Tennis in Missoula got underway this last week as the courts where finally cleared of snow and power washed of any lingering debris. Butte and Kalispell came to Missoula on Tuesday to take on Big Sky, while Loyola made a trip down to Hamilton, and Valley Christian went to Darby, and all three schools competed well despite limited practice time on the court. Sentinel and Hellgate jumped into the season on Saturday and after a slow start finished strong.

Lacrosse

All three teams found their way onto the field this week as the Big Sky Eagles played host to the Sentinel Spartans on Thursday. The Eagles finished the night with their second win of the season,;leading into an exciting match against the Knights this week. Hellgate had a pair of games on Saturday with a tough early game against Glacier, and a late afternoon game against Bozeman.
