  • In 1901 New York Giants get a record 31 hits to beat Cincinnati Reds 25-13

Boxing

  • In 1899 American boxer James J. Jeffries KOs defending champion Bob Fitzsimmons of England in 11th round in Brooklyn, New York to win the lineal World Heavyweight title

Golf

  • In 1934 US Open, Olin Dutra overcomes an 8-stroke deficit after 36 holes to win his second major title by 1 stroke from Gene Sarazen

Miscellaneous

  • In 1930 the “Flying Finn” Paavo Nurmi runs world record 6 mile (29:36.4)

NBA

  • In 1985 in the 39th NBA Championship LA Lakers beat Boston Celtics, 4 games to 2

NFL

  • In 1960 ABC and AFL sign a 5 year contract

NHL

  • In 1993 in the Stanley Cup Final, Montreal Canadiens beat LA Kings, 4-1 for a 4-1 series win. It is the Canadiens’ 24th Stanley Cup Championship
