  • In 1986 Tim Witherspoon KOs Frank Bruno in 11 for heavyweight boxing title

Golf

  • In 1930 at the LPGA Western Open, Lucia Mida beats June Beebe 6 & 5 to win the inaugural event and first women’s major championship ever played

  • In 1922 American swimmer Johnny Weissmuller is the first to break 1 minute barrier for 100m freestyle, swims 58.6s at Alameda, CA
