Third Quarter Run Keeps Braves Ahead Of Big Sky For The Win

In the second game of the 2019 Class AA Divisional it was a battle between the boys as Flathead played host to Big Sky that resulted in the Braves scoring a 69-65 win over the Eagles.

After watching the Big Sky girls fall in the game before, the Eagles stepped on to the floor looking to revenge their female counter parts while staying alive in the tournament. Battling back and forth in the opening quarter Flathead emerged on top out scoring Big Sky 10-8 in the first quarter. Having felt each others defenses out in the opening quarter both teams began to open up their schemes and took off offensively for a combined 44 points in the second quarter.

After an action packed second quarter Big Sky came out shooting to start the third quarter to keep pace with the Braves who had the lead. Mid way through the third quarter though Flathead went on a 9-0 run, allowing the Braves to out shoot Big Sky 18-10. Down 51-39 to start the final frame the Eagles began to mount a come back off the hot hand of Dan Morin who knocked down the three ball, and team leader Camdyn LeRance who was able to press the ball and get to the free throw line. Despite the late game surge by Big Sky Flathead was able to hold and earn a trip to the consolation semi-final Saturday morning.

Despite falling in the Class AA Divisional to end their season Big Sky has lit a flame that will help the team improve to insure future success.
