Tipp Leads Breakers Past Trojans

The Loyola Breakers made a trip east on Tuesday to play the Drummond Trojans in a doubleheader and the Breakers would earn a total of 36 runs while allowing 6 runs by the Trojans.

In game one Loyola was led by catcher Carly Tipp who went 4-4 with four RBI’s, two of which came on her first at bat when she knocked down a double. From the pitchers circle the Breakers Kayla Hickethier stone walled batters started the game out by stricking out her first three batters, ending her three innings in the circle striking out seven batters, and getting the player at the plate to swing on the first pitch 20 times. Due to the ten run rule the game was called in the fifth, giving Loyola a 21-6 victory.

The two teams took a brief break and jumped back into action and the Breakers picked where they left off in game one earning a run in the first. It was the second inning that is what did the Trojans in as Loyola tallied 14 runs on the inning. Hickethier put on another show from the pitchers circle as she held off the Trojans helping the Breakers coast to a 15-0 win in three innings.

Loyola will enjoy a week off before hosting the Hamilton Broncs next Tuesday.
