Baseball

  • In 1904 Boston pitchers achieve 148 complete games, an AL record, also a record for total complete games AL 1,098, NL 1,089.

Football

  • In 1994 NY Giants retire Lawrence Taylor’s #56.

Golf

  • In 2010 at the men’s Senior Players Championship Mark O’Meara wins his lone Champions Tour major title with par on first playoff hole against Michael Allen.

Hockey

  • In 1949 at the third NHL All-Star Game, All-Stars beat Toronto Maple Leafs, 3-1.

  • In 1899 African-American inventor Issac R. Johnson patents the bicycle frame.
