Baseball

  • In 1906 is an all Chicago World Series and the first AL victory, White Sox win 4 games to 2 Cubs losers share of $439.50, the lowest for World Series.

Basketball

  • In 1970 the Cleveland Cavaliers lose to the Buffalo Braves in their first game 107-92.

Boxing

  • In 1949 Ezzard Charles TKOs Pat Valentino in the 8th round for the heavyweight boxing title.

Football

  • In 1951 Detroit Lion Jack Christiansen returns 2 punts for touchdowns against the LA Rams.

Golf

  • In 1916 at the first men’s PGA Championship Englishman Jim Barnes defeats Jock Hutchison by 1 hole in the 36-hole final.

Hockey

  • In 1978 despite Denis Potvin hat trick in 3:21 NY Islanders lose 7-10 making Islander record when scoring a hat trick-22-2-1.
