Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1990 the Expos trade Tim Raines to the White Sox for Ivan Calderon & Barry Jones.

College Basketball

  • In 1982 Chaminade, with a student body of only 850 students, beats #1 ranked Virginia 77-72 in a Honolulu holiday basketball classic.

Hockey

  • In 1921 Ottawa’s Harry Broadbent scores in 10-0 Senators blowout of the Montreal Canadiens. It’s the first in 16-game NHL record goal-scoring streak, Charlie Simmer’s 13 game streak in 1979 is considered modern-day record.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1889 Daniel Stover and William Hance patent a bicycle with a back pedal brake.

NFL

  • In 1950 at the National Football League Championship the Cleveland Browns beat the LA Rams 30-28. Cleveland has 5 interceptions to the Rams 1.
