  • In 1911 Walter Johnson pitches a record tying 4 strike outs in an inning

  • In 1979 at the 43rd US Masters Tournament, Fuzzy Zoeller wins his only Masters with a birdie on the 2nd hole of a playoff with Ed Sneed and Tom Watson

  • In 1901 the 5th Boston Marathon won for second straight year by Canadian Jim Caffrey in race record 2:29:23.6

  • In 1991 Magic Johnson sets NBA record for career assists with 9,898
