Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1933 the first Major League All-Star Game is announced to be played on July 6th at Comisky Park, the game is to be part of the Chicago World’s Fair.

Boxing

  • In 2002 junior welter weight boxer Micky Ward beats Arturo Gatti by majority decision, marking the first fight between the the two boxers three bout series.

Hockey

  • In 1971 Montreal Canadien Frank Mahovlich scores two goals to help beat the Chicago Blackhawks 4-2 to take the Stanley Cup Final four games to three.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1986 U.S. National Swim Team swimmer David Goch finishes a 55,682 mile swim in a 25 yard pool.
