• In 1960 at the US Open Women’s, Betsy Rawls wins her fourth Open title, 1 stroke ahead of runner-up Joyce Ziske.

• In 1827 1st US swimming school opens, it’s located in Boston, Massachusetts.

Olympics

• In 1931 France announces it can’t afford to send a team to the 1932 LA Olympics.
