Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1928 Ty Cobb has his last hitting appearance, pops out against Yankees.

Football

  • In 1983 Pittsburgh running back Franco Harris runs for 118 yards in Steelers 25-21 win at Green Bay to become only the third player in NFL history to rush for 11,000 yards.

Golf

  • In 2005 at the Solheim Cup Women’s Golf, US regains Cup 15½–12½; Meg Mallon clinches with 3 & 1 victory over Karen Stupples.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1926 at the 21st Davis Cup the USA beats France in Philadelphia 4-1 for their seventh straight championship.

Olympics

  • In 1912 Netherland Olympic Committee forms.
