Our past has shaped the present by many things in history including sports, here is how sports marked our history today.

Baseball

  • In 1845 the first baseball team, NY Knickerbockers organize and adopt rule code.

Boxing

  • In 1873 Tom Allen beats Mike McCale for the Heavyweight Boxing title.

Football

  • In 1984 San Francisco 49er Joe Montana misses his first start in 49 games.

Golf

  • In 2018 at the men’s Tour Championship Tiger Woods wins by 2 strokes from Billy Horschel, it’s Woods’ 80th PGA Tour win, his first in 5 years. Justin Rose wins FedEx Cup crown, $10m bonus.

Hockey

  • In 1992 goalie Manon Rheaume is the first female to play in a NHL exhibition game for Tampa Bay Lightning, she gives up 2 goals on 9 attempts in 1 period.

Miscellaneous

  • In 1952 the first closed circuit pay-TV telecast of a sports event.
