Saturday will mark the end of the 2018 6-Man football season as the Wibaux Longhorns host the Garfield County Mustangs for the state title in the Longhorns second season at the 6-Man level.
The Longhorns are one of the most historic football teams in Montana high school sports as they have dominated all of Class C football. Wibaux has recently made the move to 6-man football from 8-man, with a trip to the postseason in their first season at the 6-man level in 2017. The Longhorns have played for a state title nine times at the 8-man level since 2000, with the last coming in 2014.
Garfield County has made it into the first round of the 6-Man postseason the last four seasons, but the 2018 campaign has found them in the championship game. The Mustangs have dominated their opponents throughout their run to the championship game, including a barn burner against Hot Springs in the second round that resulted in a combined 131 points.
