Western Montana To Host Dual Prep Football Championships

We have reached the end of the prep sports fall season as this coming Friday and Saturday football players will play in their final game of the season, for some the final game of their high school career. Western Montana will be a hot spot for high school football Saturday as the Class A and the Class B state championship games will go down in Hamilton and Missoula.

Class A – Billings Central @ Hamilton

After beating the team that bested them in the 2017 Class A championship last Saturday the Hamilton Broncs will host the Billings Central Rams this coming weekend. The up coming championship game will be only the game ever played on Hamilton’s new football facility, as the first was played two weeks ago when Hamilton took down Miles City to advance to the semi-final round against Columbia Falls.

Billings Central comes into Hamilton holding the number one seed out of the East with a perfect record. Billings is represented in the championship game for both the Class AA and Class A with the West Golden Bears hosting the Flathead Braves on Friday night. Taking a deeper look into the Billings connection the two teams are head coached by the Stanton brothers who are a combined 22-1 in 2018.

Coming into the game both teams have a perfect record on the season, both teams average 45 points per game, but Billings Central has the advantage on the defensive side of the ball allowing eight points per game while the Broncs are allowing their opponents to score an average of 20 points per game. Look for this battle on the grid iron to be a shoot out as both sides have a stable full of wide receivers and quarterbacks to sling the ball all over the field.

Class B – Fairfield @ Loyola

For the second time in three seasons the Loyola Rams will host the Montana High School Association’s Class B Championship game with the hope of Saturdays out come to better then the last. The up coming Class B championship game has two meanings for the Rams as they are looking to not only win a Class B football title, they are working to defeat the only Class B team to take them down in the Fairfield Eagles.

Fairfield is on a perfect run in 2018 as they have soared over every opponent this fall culminating into a week two rematch with the Rams for all the marbles. The Eagles have out played other teams with a solid front seven on the defense, and a high octane offense that has run away from their opponents. In 2018 the only team to challenge the Eagles was Shelby in week 8 when Fairfield was held to an astonishing 13 points in the win.

Fairfield has been a powerhouse in 2018, out scoring their opponents by an average of 40 points per game, but do not count out the Rams as they have an offense with a dual threat at the quarterback position. With new wrinkles in the Ram system and a Fairfield team that has adjusted to what other teams have shown them expect this game to keep you on the edge of your seat.
