The first round of the 2018 MHSA Class B football playoffs kicked off across the state of Montana on Saturday, locally the Loyola Rams would host the Three Forks Wolves in a game where the Rams were able to capitalize on three interceptions to run away with a 54-14 win.
Loyola squared off with the Wolves from the beginning as the Rams would drive 47 yards on the opening drive to score a touchdown on the legs of senior running back Ryan Tirrell. In all Loyola found themselves in the end zone six of their seven first half drives, three through the air to senior wide receiver Cooper Waters, two by Tirrell, and one by junior slot receiver Jeffrey Twite.
On the defensive side of the ball the Rams were able to force Three Forks to turn the ball over four times, three interceptions and a fumble. Ram defensive back Bryce Danielson hauled in two interceptions, and senior defensive lineman David Ramsey snagged his first pick of the year.
Three Forks scored for the first time in the third quarter when Colter Miller found Tanner Sayers for a four yard catch, and after a successful two point conversion the Wolves were on the board. Finding a rhythm in the second half Three Forks put the ball in the hands of their running back Connor Woodall on the next possession with Woodall scoring on a 67 yard catch and run to give the Wolves 14 points.
For Three Forks the damage had been done early in the game when the Wolves had back to back possessions that resulted in interceptions, opening the for the Rams to cruise to the second round the Class B football playoffs off a dominating win. Loyola will host Huntley Project next Saturday, the Rams knocked off the Red Devils opening night under the lights off Bobcat Stadium.
